Just west of the winery, the terrain drops steeply-perhaps a couple hundred feet-toward Silverado Trail and the valley floor. It’s a great spot for both wine growing and view taking.
The site is downhill and west from the Atlas Peak AVA, north of the Coombsville AVA, and south of Stags Leap District. It’s within the Napa Valley AVA, but not any of the nested AVAs. That’s in the Vaca foothills on Atlas Peak Road, just across the street to the west of the Silverado Resort golf course. William Hill Estate Winery and its surrounding vineyard sit on the Silverado bench. These wines offer good value and are in broad distribution, so you can find them readily around the country, not just winery direct. Today, I’m reviewing wines from the William Hill Estate Coastal Collection sent to me as samples.
